Victoria Symphony event allows people to express creativity

Surrounded by tables decorated with mini grand pianos and red flowers, stood a decorated cardboard black-and-white electric guitar with a star shape for its body.

Sitting at the table were ladies sporting black wigs and masks that resembled the members of the rock band Kiss.

"We thought everyone would decorate their table dealing with classical music, so we wanted to be a little bit different," said Amy Mundy. "We wanted to spice it up and do edgy rock. Plus, we wanted to wear wigs."

About 345 people attended the 10th annual Fall Luncheon and Fashions themed "Music Across America" presented by the Victoria Symphony League on Wednesday at the Spring Creek Place Event Center.

"It's an annual event where we come together to support music and fine arts in general," said Kristy Nelson, president of Victoria Symphony Society. "We also get to see the guests' creativity in their tablescapes."

Cora Jo Hummel, co-chair of the event, said eventgoers decorate the tables themselves, according to the theme of the show.

The live entertainment included vocalist Debbie One and keyboard maestro Darryl One on their four-set show titled "One for the money, two for the show."
